To assist startup companies of Taipei City in acquiring international business opportunities, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) was entrusted by the Department of Economic Development of Taipei City Government to organize the “Startup Business Opportunities Exchange Conference” at InnoVEX Zone of Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 3 during the 2016 COMPUTEX Taipei show from 31st May to 2nd June. By establishing “StartUP@Taipei”, the iconic pavilion for Taipei City Government, startup companies with special features in Taipei City were invited to participate in the exhibition. Every company will have face-to-face interactions with domestic and internationally renowned venture capital investors during the exhibition period, promoting their own eye-catching products and participating in the forums, competitions, and interactive activities planned by organizers to assist domestic startups to enhance their brand and product exposure.

With the development of information technology and its prevalence, many interdisciplinary applications have emerged. Startups which utilize information technology to solve various problems have sprung up like mushrooms, driving waves of entrepreneurship. Taipei City has become one of the best locations for startups to realize their dreams because of the rich variety of industries and the complete software and hardware infrastructure. While differing from normal enterprises, startup businesses are inherently burdened with high risk and uncertainty as well as a lack of resources at the early development stage. Thus, the Department of Economic Development of Taipei City Government has established the “StartUP@Taipei” platform to offer entrepreneurs one-stop consulting services, actively constructing a complete environment for startups, and offering integrated resources and guidance.
