Taiwan and Japan will soon open both Border Entries for Business Professionals

2020-09-02

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Taiwan announced on Sept. 1 that the governments of Taiwan and Japan have reached an agreement on mutual relaxation of border control. Japan will open the entry of Taiwanese business travelers from Sept. 8 to be the first case of mutual relaxation of border control between Taiwan and a foreign country. This shows Japan’s affirmation of Taiwan’s effectiveness of controlling the epidemic, and it will help restore Taiwan and Japan cross trade business opportunities, indicative significance for international trades in the post COVID-19 era.

Japan's border entry opening is limited to business purposes travelers, and the main points of its entry measures are as follows:
1) Taiwan business professional need to submit employee certificates or invitation letters to Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association to apply for visa.
2) Submit a PCR test negative certificate taken within 72 hours prior boarding, and accept taking a PCR test at the airport after arriving in Japan.
3) Upon entering Japan, undergo a 14-day quarantine at home or designated institution.

For more information about the application methods, please refer to the announcement on the website of Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association.
