InnoVEX 2021 Inno AI Program 15 Top Research Teams Showcase Their Latest AI Technology Research Achievements

2021-09-10

The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), in compliance with the Executive Yuan's Digital Nation and Innovative Economic Development Program (DIGI+) as well as Taiwan AI Action Plan, has been since 2018 promoting the "Innovative AI Research Center Program" and has subsidized a number of academia research centers to establish various smart and innovative ecosystems applicable to talent training, technology, field and cross-domain cooperation. In order to continuously enhance Taiwan's research momentum and promote relevant R&D results for industrial applications, 15 top research teams have come together this year to participate in the 2021 InnoVEX online exhibition from now on till December 31st, 2021 in the "Inno AI Program Theme Pavilion" to showcase the Ministry's subsidization program and accomplishments on the part of academic and research teams' innovative solutions for cross-domain integration in semiconductors and manufacturing, medical and health, smart cities, services, and aquaculture, purporting to improve and satisfy the multiple livelihood needs and quality of life.

The purpose of the Ministry's smart research programs is not only to promote Taiwan's industrial transformation in various fields and improve people's livelihoods and well-being, but also to further build a more internationally recognizable and influential smart and innovative research base in Taiwan to achieve “Taiwan 2030 —Innovation, Inclusion, and Sustainability” vision. This "Inno AI Program Theme Pavilion" revolves around the topics of smart life and industrial upgrading. In terms of medical and health, the Joint Research Center for AI Technology and All Vista Healthcare of the National Taiwan University has developed a precision medical AI-assisted decision-making system, which is combined with wearable devices and IoT environment sensors to implement precise health management; and its intelligent brain imaging diagnosis service platform can assist clinical psychiatrists in diagnosing schizophrenia with a diagnosis accuracy rate of over 90%. Combined with the joint teams of the Pervasive Artificial Intelligence Research Labs of Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, the most commonly used mobile phone communication App and AI technology can help doctors determine whether patients have signs of myocardial infarction from the electrocardiogram. National Cheng Kung University's Artificial Intelligence Biotechnology Medical Innovation Research Center uses AI technology to assist doctors in detecting tumor cells and hepatitis grading from medical images, and identify mycobacterium tuberculosis. Facing annoying symptoms of insomnia, it is possible to adopt non-drug therapy neural feedback to learn self-control and adjust brain work to improve the dilemma of insomnia with artificial intelligence and wearable devices.

In the area of industrial competitiveness enhancement in the field of semiconductor smart manufacturing, the Artificial Intelligence for Intelligent Manufacturing System Research Center of National Tsing Hua University showcases their integrated smart planning and scheduling system for mold manufacturing as well as the application of AI control, preventive maintenance and processing technology of machine tools IoT. National Taiwan University showcases its R&D results in the silicon carbide super-power metal-oxygen half-field effect transistor developed by its Advanced Research Center for Green Materials Science and Technology, which can improve efficiency of the power system and reduce the volume, weight and energy consumption. Yang Ming Chiao Tung University's Intelligent Semiconductor Nano System Technology Research Center displays low-impedance internal wiring and ultra-low contact resistance technology of the smart semiconductor nano system, which can improve the life and toughness of electronic products. In the aquaculture industry, there is an intelligent aquaculture management system that combines underwater technology, Internet of Things, box net aquaculture and other technologies.

To face continued impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the focus of the fight against the pandemic is not limited to medical methods. smart services and applications are also effective ways to reduce human-to-human infection. This theme pavilion also shows related autonomous drone flight control systems and advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). Automatic advertisement generation and dialogue robots can be extended to 5G smart vertical application services to ensure platform effectiveness for smart factories, smart medical and long-term cares.

The 2021 InnoVEX "Inno AI Program Theme Pavilion" presents all participating research teams' technical information on an online platform with no space and time constraints that you can interact with each research team in real time through the social link function. Through this borderless exchange of views, more innovative ideas can be stimulated for solutions to challenges and needs facing the country.
