InnoVEX Pitch Contest

I. Purpose of Pitch Contest

Already offering many benefits for startups such as the chance to meet VCs, angel investors, hardware technical talents, and overseas buyers, COMPUTEX InnoVEX now offers another benefit: a USD 30,000 prize for entrepreneurial dreamers. All registration is available online only. The contest process adopts a three-stage approach: preliminary, semi-final and final round. Preliminary round is based on the review of submitted materials. Those who are selected in the preliminary will continue to the semi-final round and pitch on 5/31 and 6/1. The finalists are announced immediately after the end of the semi-finals, and the final round will be in the afternoon on 6/2. Final Pitch Contest winner will win a prize of USD 30,000.

II. Participants

Startup companies or teams who have a pitch in the areas of Hardware and IoT, ECOM and Fintech, Consumer Tech, Bio & Health Tech, and Enterprise Software.

III. Qualifications

  1. 1. Startup companies / teams / InnoVEX exhibitors established after January 1, 2011.
  2. 2. Startup teams recommended by corporates or any legal person groups (any legal entities) who support startups.
  3. *The recommender must be an InnoVEX exhibitor.

IV. Entry Fees and Special Offers

  1. For teams who are not exhibitors, the entry fee is US $1,000 (TWD $32,000 is accepted as well); the entry gets a free stand at InnoVEX (a mini booth, 1.5m x1.5m, including decoration).
  2. For teams recommended by legal entities, the entry fees are exempt, but the legal entities must be InnoVEX exhibitors (renting at least one 3m x 3m booth). To ensure adequate exhibition space in the booth, each booth can only feature 4 teams (2 booths can feature 8 teams, and so on).
  3. For InnoVEX exhibitors, entry fees are exempt.
  4. Entry Fees will not be returned after application is closed. If withdraw is applied before April 8, 2016, entry fees can be returned, but transfer charges will be deducted from the original fee.

V. Process and Schedule

  1. Registration time: Now until April 8, 2016.
  2. Preliminary round: On May 11, 2016. InnoVEX's official website will announce the first round list.
  3. Semifinal round: May 31-June 1, 2016. Each team will have 11 minutes (6 minutes to pitch + 5 minutes for Q&A).
  4. Final round: June 2. Each team will have 15 minutes (10 minutes to pitch + 5 minutes for Q&A).

VI. Judging Standards

1. Preliminary round (selection on the written pitch and video)

  1. i. Preliminary submission deadline is April 8, 2016. After the deadline, a Review Committee will judge each team’s submitted pitch and video. Teams who pass this round of review shall be qualified to participate in the semifinal round.

  3. iii. Preliminary round score is the total score of the score of written pitch and the score of pitch video.
  4. iv. Scoring categories for the written pitch:

  5. v. Scoring categories for the Pitch video: The video should be 1 minute long in English. This is for the judges to determine whether the participants in this contest meets requirements.

2. Semifinal:

  1. i. The list of semifinalists will be announced on the official website on May 11, 2016, and the semifinalists will be notified by email.
  2. ii. Semifinal schedule will be announced on May 20 on the official website. The semifinalists will compete on May 31 and June 1.
  3. iii. We are inviting international venture capital companies and international ICT companies to be in our jury panel.
  4. iv. Each team has 11 minutes, including 6 minutes pitch, and 5 minutes Q & A, all in English language. After each team’s pitch, the result will be scored immediately.
  5. The first 8 teams with highest scores will be in the final.

3. Final

  1. i. The final schedule will be announced after the end of the semi-finals on June 1, 2016. And the finalists will pitch on June 2, 2016.
  2. ii. We are inviting international venture capital companies and international ICT companies to be in our jury panel.
  3. iii. Each team has 15 minutes, including 10 minutes pitch, and 5 minutes Q & A, all in English language. After each team’s final pitch, the result will be scored immediately.
  4. iv. The team that has the highest score will be the contest winner.

VII. Awards and Prizes

  1. Semi-finalists will receive a certificate of being selected (one certificate per team).
  2. The finalists will receive mentoring time, and certificate of being selected to the final (one per team). Mentoring time: After the semifinal, there can be a 1-on-1 mentoring and review, up to 20 minutes. Time and place will be arranged.
  3. The Winner Prize: The final winner receives a prize of US$30,000 and a trophy.
  4. The Enterprise Award: One team with outstanding performance will be given the award provided by InnoVEX sponsors, using the exhibition recommendation platform.
  5. If there are new prizes, the announcement will be shown on InnoVEX official website.

VIII. The jury panel

We are inviting international venture capital companies and international ICT companies to be in our jury panel.

  1. Plagiarism, counterfeit, and unauthorized reproduction is forbidden in the Pitch Contest. If reported for such matters, the contestant should be responsible for all legal liability.
  2. The organizer has the right to cancel one’s qualification if involved in copy right breach. Any objection will not be accepted.
  3. Once registration is completed, it will be taken as all information is true. If information is incomplete, incorrect, or unable to get in contact with, the organizer will NOT provide further notice. Application for Pitch Contest will be invalid.
  4. Once registration is completed, it will be taken as full agreement to the contest regulations. The terms and conditions are subjected to changes at anytime without prior notice.
  5. The organizer has the right to use product information for non-profit promotions for the contest, including reproduction, distribution, advertisement, broadcasting, and online promotion.
  6. ccording to the Taiwan Tax Law, prize valued more than TWD $20,000 will be charged for tax. Prizewinner should provide identity certificate to the organizer for tax report.
