2018-07-20
Taipei Computer Association, one of the main organizers for international tech startup exhibition InnoVEX, was invited to share their experience as an exhibition organizer. They also shared their knowledge of startup ecosystem on InnoNEXT Youth CEO Workshop located at digiBlock Taipei. This event was hosted by Startup Terrace on July 14th to bring more awareness about the startup ecosystem to young CEOs.
Speaker Eric Shiau started by introducing the startup ecosystem. He showed a graph explaining the different stages of startups and introduced the main funding sources for each stage. He stated a few of the dilemmas that Taiwanese startups are facing, for instance how the Taiwanese startups will compete with other countries’ startups for resources. Startup companies can obtain additional values and opportunities by participating in exhibitions. Last but not least, Mr. Shiau shared his experience on participating in two of the largest exhibitions in the US: Techcrunch Disrupt SF and CES, where he gave the InnoNEXT Youth CEOs a glimpse of what international exhibitions look like.
Second speaker Lesley Ku focused on her experience on InnoVEX 2018. Ms. Ku shared the basic run-down for organizing startup events which begins by finding exhibitors, inviting forum speakers, negotiating prize award sponsorships to executing onsite. Her speech provided the audience an overview of organizing this year’s InnoVEX, which hosted 388 startups exhibitors from 21 countries along with 17,867 visitors this year, setting a new time high record.
The Youth CEOs showed their passion and interest in the topics during the QA session. This workshop is also helpful for Youth CEOs to organize their own event for next year.
