InnoVEX Announces the Second Wave of Pitch Judges

Registration for the InnoVEX 2024 Pitch Contest will end on May 13. As the organizers of InnoVEX, Taipei Computer Association (TCA) stated that the Pitch Contest will focus on emerging tech trends, including: AI, Green Tech, Healthcare & Biotech, Precision Manufacturing, Semiconductor Applications, and Smart Mobility.

In total, the Pitch Contest will feature a prize pool valued at USD 100,000 including USD 63,000 cash prizes and various professional & promotional resources. The prizes will be provided by the organizers as well as sponsors: The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Business Startup Support Centre (BSSC), KPMG, NVIDIA, NXP, the ResorTech EXPO in Okinawa Executive Committee, PwC, and Taiwania Capital Management Corporation.

InnoVEX 2024 will be held from June 4 to 7, 2024 in Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2 and the finalists of the Pitch Contest will be able to join the exclusive one-on-one matchmaking event scheduled on June 7th. This matchmaking event is exclusive only to the 15 finalists where they can connect directly with the VC judges and international VCs or CVCs invited to the event.

The first batch of judges was announced earlier, which includes: Yinglan Tan - Founding Managing Partner at Insignia Ventures Partners, Mike Lee – Senior Investment Manager at WK Innovation, Meng Han Lee – Investment Director at BE Health Accelerator, Jason Lu – Director at Darwin Venture Management, and Wilson Khoo – Director, Head of APAC Excluding Mainland China at Continental AG.

The second wave of judges include:

  • Gudén García Pablos – Portfolio Manager at Criteria Caixa
    Criteria Caixa is the biggest Industrial Holding in Spain and the second in Europe with more than EUR 24.7 Trillion assets under control, it’s the investment arm of La Caixa Foundation.
  • Jerry Yang – General Partner at HCVC
    HCVC is a Paris-based VC firm managing €110M+ of investment funds and focusing on hardtech startups in Europe & US that seek to digitize, automate and decarbonize the physical economy.
  • Joyce Lee – Principal at WI Harper Group
    Founded in 1993, WI Harper Group is one of the founding venture capital franchises. WI Harper Group aims to enhance investments and strategic positioning in Taiwanese startups, creating more successful cases that align with the international market.
  • Ronnie Tseng – Business & Product Development Master at AppWorks
    Founded in 2009, AppWorks is a Taiwan based startup community and venture capital firm built by founders, for founders. Their 4-month free accelerator program: AppWorks Accelerator admits 30 - 40 AI, Blockchain, and Southeast Asia startups per batch.
  • Steve Pan – Director at UMC Capital
    UMC Capital is the CVC arm of UMC Group, one of the top worldclass wafer manufacturing companies. They specialize in global deep tech investments and partner with our portfolio companies by adding value through their vast ecosystem.
  • Steven Lee - Managing Partner of Tech Fund at Taiwania Capital Management Corporation
    Established in 2017, Taiwania Capital Management Corporation is a leading venture capital firm in Taiwan, supported by Taiwan’s public and private sectors. By linking technology with capital, Taiwania Capital Management Corporation aspires to create a robust ecosystem in Taiwan that fosters entrepreneurial innovation.
    Steven Lee is also the judge for the Taiwania Capital Special Award in the InnoVEX 2024 Pitch Contest which will provide NTD 300,000 cash prize to the winner that focuses on innovative technologies with international competitiveness.
Interested exhibitors are urged to register and submit the necessary documents, including a pitch deck, a 90-second pitch video, and any other additional necessary information before May 13th, 23:59 (GMT+8). The materials will undergo review during the preliminary stage, and the 15 finalists will be announced on May 28, 2024.

Visitors can join the InnoVEX 2024 Guided Tours to find the highlights of this year’s event. There will be 4 routes that visitors can register to:
  • Route A – International Startups: will feature national pavilions and international startups. (English only)
  • Route B – AI Startups: will focus on AI Startups.
  • Route C – Green Tech Startups: will highlight Green Tech and Sustainable Tech focusing Startups.
  • Route D – Accelerators and Incubators: will feature startups selected by the organizer.
